NBDRA IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE its FIRST RECREATIONAL EVENT OF 2024.
Welcome to NBDRA's first recreational ride of 2024 going to the Fredericton area where the riders will be treated to great trails, great locations, and great company! Once again we call on the local trail guru's Peter and Eric, our very own NBDRA members, to carefully plan this event to offer a ride that will keep you on you're toes and create more amazing memories. This ride is oriented for novice and above riders, and there will be lots of experienced riders there to give advice and help out in any way they can. This is a great opportunity if you want to learn and grow your skills, there will be lots of varied terrain to warm you up for the season. This ride will take you through roughly 165kms of beautiful fire and logging roads, and mild double-track trails.
Join us on May 25 for a guided Dual-Sport ride. (Rain date is May 26th) All riders are required to have the proper registration & insurance to be able to ride on the road. The group will meet at the Irving gas station located at 536 Riverside Dr, Fredericton, NB E3A 8C2 @ 10am. Kickstand goes up at 10:30am. The day will be filled with great opportunities to enjoy your favourite sport and help build confidence in your riding.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The ride is approximately 165kms of mixed riding. There is a minimal amount of pavement that will be used to connect from trail to trail. There will be a gas stop approxmiately halfway through the ride.
We will ensure that ALL participants are well guided and will WAIT at all forks/intersections to ensure the group stays together. We will follow a typical staggered formation on the roads, and please maintain a safe distance to the rider in front of you on the trails in case they slide or brake suddenly.
Please expect an average difficulty level that will offer varied terrain from dirt roads, trails, rocky at times and slippery in certain areas if wet. For the most difficult sections, there will often be options for an easier path. Those more challenging sections will include some shallow water crossing, river crossing, steeper incline and some slippery/muddy conditions. If required, coaching & assistance will be provided. (Those are the ideal moments to improve your skills while not straying to far away from your comfort zone.)
Please note that this ride is better suited for dual-sport motorcycles and small adventure bikes. It's not really designed for large bikes like a new-gen KLR or big BMW unless you are very comfortable and appropriately skilled.
We always recommend ATGATT, but we require the basics of offroad safety gear:
- Helmet with eye protection
- Motocross style or heavy-duty Adventure boots
- Gloves
- Water
It is strongly recommended to bring tools/materials for roadside repairs (Tube/patches, axles wrenches, tools to access/remove battery and sparkplug)
Your motorcycle must be well maintained and in proper running condition. While we all can and are willing to help with a repair, we won't want to do so repeatedly.
Your motorcycle must have terrain appropriate tires. 50/50 onroad/offroad is recommended as a minimum.
